What Is Start Proud
Start Proud aims to connect 2SLGBTQIA+ students with employers, while promoting the development of 2SLGBTQIA+ professionals, and celebrating the achievements and service of those in the community.
We facilitate the professional development of 2SLGBTQIA+ students as they transition from school to career in order to build a national network within the community. Our vision is to empower members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community to be Canada’s leaders of tomorrow; where all institutions embrace inclusiveness within the workplace and diversity within the workforce.
About the Role:
The Executive Vice President (EVP) role is to support the President in all of their duties and to serve as a problem-solver and point of contact for everyone in the organization. Unlike the President, the EVP is more focused on operations.
The ideal candidate:
- Understands and is committed to the goals, values, mission, and programs of the organization.
- Stays apprised of issues and trends that may affect the organization.
- Avoids any potential conflicts of interest.
- Understands and maintains confidentiality.
- Advocates for and supports the organization.
- Shares their unique passions, knowledge, and experience for the advancement of the organization.
In this role you will:
- Lead the operations of the organization working closely with the President, Executive Vice President, External Operations and the broader senior leadership team to ensure execution ofthe organization’s mandate
- Regularly attend executive meetings and Board meetings as needed.
- Prepare for all meetings by reading the agenda, minutes, reports, and other documents necessary for active participation
- Provide direction and support to volunteers in the execution of the organization’s operations.
- Act as the President in their absence.

Term:
- Term: The EVP is selected by the Board for a one (1) year term, but can remain in the role for as many years as the Board determines to be in the best interests of the organization.
