Trevor Fairlie is a lawyer called to the Bar of Ontario and a graduate of Osgoode HallLaw School. He practices as Counsel, Corporate and Securities at Thomson ReutersCorporation (TSX/NYSE: TRI), and previously worked with the M&A team at the OntarioSecurities Commission, and as a corporate governance consultant. He is an adjunct faculty member at Osgoode Professional Development, where he teaches ‘Boards ofDirectors’ and ‘Mergers & Acquisitions Transactions’.
As a corporate governance consultant, Trevor advised private companies, non-profitsand Crown corporations on a range of governance challenges, and at the OSC heworked on policy projects that shaped governance practices in real time. He was a key organizer of the 2024 Canadian Securities Administrators’ M&A Conference, whichbrought together Canadian practitioners and regulators from around the world.
Trevor is the Board Chair at Start Proud, a Director and Governance Committee Chair at Orchestra Toronto and a co-founder, Director and Governance Committee Chair at the Canadian Association of LGBT Lawyers.Trevor frequently speaks on legal and governance topics, and has guest lectured at theUniversity of Toronto, Osgoode and the National University of Singapore.
He has presented at conferences in Toronto, New York, Amsterdam, Dublin and Rio de Janeiro,and served as the legal advisor to a federally-supported trade mission.Trevor was recognized as a Top 30 under 30 Alumnus of York University and with theOdyssey Award (Emerging Leader) from the University of Windsor.
