Lindsay Humeniuk
She/Her

Entering her fifth year of the Integrated Business & Humanities program at McMaster University, Lindsay Humeniuk is passionate about building inclusive and accessible queer spaces. After attending a queer business event in January 2023, Lindsay was inspired to bring that same sense of community to the DeGroote School of Business. One year later, in January 2024, the DeGroote Pride Association was launched.

Just a few months later, Lindsay began her internship at SC Johnson. Noticing the absence of a queer community there, she once again took initiative. In May 2024, Lindsay began laying the groundwork, and exactly a year later, SC Johnson proudly launched the first-ever Canadian chapter of its global 2SLGBTQIA+ employee resource group: Ignite.

Originally from Thunder Bay, Ontario - 15 hours away from McMaster - Lindsay was one of the few openly queer people in her high school and city. She arrived at university determined to find, or create, the community she had been missing. Today, with the DeGroote Pride Association named Club of the Yearand SC Johnson Canada hosting its first-ever Ignite event, Lindsay is confident that she’s not only found her community but has helped build it for others too.
