André Bear (He/Him) is a Nêhîyaw (Plains-Cree) Two-Spirit advocate for Inherent and Treaty Rights. He holds both a Juris Doctor and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Saskatchewan. Following law school, he was awarded a full-ride scholarship to pursue a Master of Laws (LL.M.) before choosing to withdraw to focus on directly serving First Nations. He went on to found Indigenous Nation Rebuilding, a consultancy dedicated to supporting First Nations in revitalizing their traditional practice of Indigenous law-making.
André has served as the youth representative of the Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations and Co-Chair of the AFN National Youth Council. At just 21, he was appointed Special Advisor to the Minister of Crown–Indigenous Relations for the implementation of the TRC’s Call to Action 66. He has been a board member of the Indigenous Bar Association and the Canadian Juries Commission, and currently serves on the Board of the First Nations Child & Family Caring Society.
Today, André is articling with Fox LLP, a Blackfoot law firm dedicated to serving First Nations. He is expected to be called to the Alberta Bar in fall 2025.
